Wind Generator Costs

If you want to start using some of the alternative sources of energy and want to know what wind generator costs will be, I can help.

To capture the power of the wind you will need a wind turbine. You’ve probably seen these huge windmills in large fields all around the country. An overly simplistic explanation of how they work is that the energy from the wind is converted to electricity which is than used or stored in batteries for later use.

What you may not know is that these wind turbines are available in smaller sizes and several different shapes. In my community a store has installed a few turbines on their roof to help supply some of their energy needs.

If you want to buy one and have it installed it will cost you between $600 and $12,000. That’s a big expenditure for most people. And with a projected energy savings of about 80% it would take quite a long time to recoup your investment.

There is another option though. You, like thousands of others, could build your own. There are easy to use instruction manuals available that can walk you through the process step by step.

The materials you need can be purchased at any hardware store for less than $200. For most people who don’t have a lot of experience, it will take anywhere from a few days to a week to construct your turbine.

It is small enough that it can be mounted on your roof or in your yard. And yes, just like with the more expensive model, you can still expect to save up to 80% off of your utility bills.

If you want the savings benefits of your own wind turbine but didn’t know what the wind generator costs would be I hope this article has made it easier for you to decide if this is the best option for you.
